Active Campaigns Involving the Global Center
The World Conservation Society (WCS) leads Framing Our Future. This U.S. public-facing active campaign aims to educate, inspire and activate audiences to advance nature-based solutions to mitigate climate change, such as preserving our intact forests and protecting and restoring coastal ecosystems, which are essential for capturing carbon emissions. Framing Our Future is powered by a strong partner network of organizations, including the Indianapolis Zoo and other Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) members.
Launched in 2020 by the High Ambition Coalition, the 30×30 worldwide initiative calls for governments to commit to designating 30% of Earth’s priority land and water as protected areas by 2030. Seventy nations, including the U.S., have made that commitment. In the U.S., the Biden Administration’s approach is called America the Beautiful. This national call to action is aimed at empowering tribal nations, farmers, local communities and others to work collaboratively to protect wild species and wild spaces. The Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) – of which the Indianapolis Zoo is a member – calls on all world leaders to join the 30×30 initiative.
Reverse the Red is a global movement that ignites strategic cooperation and action to ensure the survival of wild species and ecosystems. Data-driven and collaborative, Reverse the Red provides tools and partnerships to unite stakeholders and catalyze conservation impact.
Committed to Assess – Plan – Act, the ultimate goal of Reverse the Red is becoming the first generation to stop biodiversity decline. It brings together government agencies, academia, NGOs, zoos, aquariums and botanical gardens.
