Animal enrichment materials and activities are a key component of keeping animals healthy at the Zoo. Enrichment objects come in all shapes, sizes and smells and are designed to stimulate natural behaviors and engage an animal’s body and brain. In this program, educators (grades 3-12) will learn more about the enrichment program at the Zoo and discover how their students can create their own animal enrichment ideas. The Animal Enrichment Challenge aligns with both the Indiana Academic Standards and Next Generation Science Standards.
Conservation Educator Academy
For professional educators, teachers, and pre-service teachers
Join us for an all-new Conservation Educator Academy, where you can learn from experts in wildlife conservation and animal care. Collaborate with fellow educators, explore the Zoo, and create a visual journal to share with your students. This three-day program offers the opportunity to observe STEM practices firsthand, participate in special zoo tours and experiences, and engage in hands-on STEM activities that you can incorporate into your teaching.

Wild Learning Guides
CZoo keepers learn a lot from observing the animals they work with each day. Ethograms are used to record animal behavior. Learn how zoo keepers observe animals and complete your own ethogram.
At a zoo or aquarium, it is the job of a designer to help create the habitat for an animal. In order to build a habitat for an animal in a zoo setting a designer must understand the needs of the animal, keepers and guests. Learn more about the design process and create your own exhibit design.
