Did you know that you can adopt a black kitten during ZooBoo? Since 2020, the Indianapolis Zoo has partnered with Indianapolis Animal Care Services to give guests the opportunity to not just adopt a furry new friend during ZooBoo, but to educate guests on how to adopt and rescue animals. We have two kittens available this year.
All potential adoptees should fill out a pre-adoption application to help the process go smoothly https://www.indy.gov/activity/adopt-a-pet. You can even put the name of the animal that you are interested in. This year at ZooBoo we have two male black kittens available for adoption, Midnight and Shadow. Kittens have lots of energy so they will need areas to climb and hide. Cat trees are a great option.
If you find another animal you fall in love with online, you can fill out the adoption form and head to the shelter to meet the adoptable animals.
If you’re an animal lover, but not quite ready for adoption there are other ways to be involved. Volunteer at a shelter or become a foster, so animals waiting for adoption have a home to stay in rather than a kennel. This helps develop their social skills being in an environment with people and possibly other pets. Donating to shelters to help supply food and cover animal care costs is another great option. And of course, spreading the word on social media of all the animals that need homes helps. Maybe someone you know will find their new best friend.
