How to Support the Indianapolis Zoo

The mission of the Indianapolis Zoo is to inspire local and global communities to celebrate, protect, and preserve our natural world through conservation, education, and research, and by providing an enriching and wondrous environment for our visitors and the animals in our care.In short, we are about connecting animals, plants and people. Since opening in 1964, the Indianapolis Zoo has been a leader in the movement transforming zoos from places simply to view animals into institutions also dedicated to conservation and education.
The Indianapolis Zoo has grown into a world-renowned facility, the first to be accredited as a zoo, an aquarium and a botanical garden. It is home to almost 4,000 animals, including 19 species that are endangered and 3 that are threatened. The vision of the founders is shared today as the Zoo provides the public with the necessary tools for the appreciation and preservation of life.
The Indianapolis Zoo does not receive any direct public support and is dependent on the generosity of individual, corporate, foundation and estate gifts. Consider opportunities that would enable you to partner with us in the vital conservation, research, exhibition and education efforts of the Indianapolis Zoo.
