The Dolphin In-Water Adventure gives guests the opportunity to meet our dolphins up close and personal with an experience of a lifetime. Guests will discover first hand from the Conservation Education and Marine Mammal staffs what it takes to care for these amazing animals. Participants will meet a dolphin in the pool, learn hand signals for behaviors and reward a dolphin with fish.

Adventure Tours take guests for a sneak peek behind the scenes at the Zoo. These tours give guests an opportunity to view the Zoo from a different vantage point and encounter animals in a new way. Participants will have special stage seats for the Dolphin Show, go behind the scenes, and meet an animal up close and personal.

An Elephant Art Adventure will take up to four guests behind the scenes where one of our elephant artists will create a painting to take home. Guests will meet the artist and learn what makes them unique in our herd, as well as help choose colors for their painting.

Junior Train Engineer

Has your child ever wanted to be a train engineer? With this new program from the Zoo, kids age 5 and up can experience what it's like to be a train conductor.  For $15, participants get to ride up front next to the train conductor while wearing their own special train conductor cap, ring the bell, and blow the train whistle.  No reservations needed - just inquire at the ticket booth for the White River Junction Express train ride.  Program also includes a train ride ticket for an adult to accompany the Junior Train Engineer.  For the remainder of the 2009 season, this program will run on Friday-Sunday and holidays only.

Junior Dolphin Trainer

Lots of young people dream of someday becoming a dolphin trainer.  This summer at the Indianapolis Zoo, your child can find out just a little bit about what it's like!  Our new Junior Dolphin Trainer program offers a closeup encounter for the little marine mammal lover in the family.  Purchase your Junior Dolphin Trainer ticket at the admissions window when you arrive at the Zoo, and you will be assigned a dolphin show to attend, plus a special badge.  Each Junior Dolphin Trainer will be met inside the Marsh Dolphin Adventure Theatre and escorted to reserved seating in the first row of the west side of the Theatre.  When it's time, the marine mammal trainers will bring up their "junior" counterparts to help them cue the dolphins by hand!  After the experience, the junior trainers will receive a collectors card with information on the dolphin they "trained," which will fit inside the badge holder as a souvenir.  This new program is only $10.00 per junior trainer (the rest of the party will not need special tickets to get into the show) and is for children age 5 and up.  Check out this new fun activity next time you're at the Zoo!
