Our volunteers are integral to our operation. Adult volunteers, Zoo Teens and Interns comprise the three programs managed by our Volunteer Services Department. Adults may volunteer for year round assignments or for a special event. Zoo Teens begin to learn about careers in zoos and aquariums, as well as gain job skills. Internships allow students to gain valuable real-world experience in areas such as animal care, education and administration. Learn more about each area below.
Thanks for your interest in volunteering with Christmas at the Zoo! Due to an overwhelming amount of interest, new volunteer applications are currently closed. Please stay tuned for more information about other opportunities.

Have you always wanted to work in a zoo? Would you like to do something “wild” next year?
The Zoo Teen Program is an exciting way for high school students ages 13 to 18 to explore career opportunities, meet new friends, gain customer service skills, and much more!
The Indianapolis Zoo seeks responsible, reliable, enthusiastic students who are interested in learning about animals, can interact with Zoo guests, and can be role models for their peers. Students of all academic levels will be considered for the program.
The Zoo Teen Program can further students’ interests, help them to explore career goals and develop interaction skills in a professional environment. This is a unique opportunity for students to work on the wild side at one of the state’s top attractions.
ZOO TEENS ARE ASKED TO VOLUNTEER:
