Recently named one of Vault's Top 10 Non-Profit Internship* programs in the country, the Indianapolis Zoo's Intern Program offers a unique opportunity for college students and recent graduates to become actively involved in the Zoo's conservation, research, education and recreation efforts. Interns can enhance their knowledge and experience in various animal care and administrative roles, and when coupled with a bachelor's degree, internships can be the key to gaining employment at zoos and aquariums. Internships are only available to students studying within the United States. Interns work 20-40 hours per week for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks. Intern positions are experience-based and are therefore unpaid. Housing and transportation are the responsibility of the intern, although the Zoo can assist with arrangements if requested. Typically, applications are considered two months prior to the deadline, and offers may be made to candidates before the deadline. The deadline is the last-chance cut-off date. Late applications will not be considered. The application materials should include: application form, cover letter, résumé, two letters of recommendation and a copy of transcripts. The Zoo is not currently accepting internship applications. Please check back in June for information related to fall internships.
